About Me
My name is Nitara, and I am a strategic designer based in Sydney, Australia. I am passionate about systems and storytelling, accessibility and inclusion in design and social impact. I aim for my work to be intentional and joyful whilst creating real tangible change.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Design (Graphic Design & Spatial Experience Design) from UNSW in 2022, and have completed training in Systems Thinking at UTS. I have since worked in powerhouse creative agencies across design and marketing.
Currently, I am leading design for the Global Shapers Sydney, a community initiative by the World Economic Forum, volunteering with Sweltering Cities to create resilience in communities battling extreme heat, and pursuing the Master of Design (Design Innovation & Strategic Design) at the University of Sydney.
I acknowledge the Darug people, the Traditional Owners of the land on which I live and work, and pay my respects to Elders past and present.
My strategic design approach
-
Mapping
I take care mapping problem spaces, determining boundaries, discovering connections and formulating stories to make sense of complexity [see storytelling]. Through a mix of systems thinking, a futures mindset and human-centred design, I dive deep into ‘what’ and ‘how’.
-
Exploration
When approaching a problem, I explore past, present and future contexts and scenarios. By interrogating these timeframes, I uncover what future pathways and outcomes could look like, should look like, where broader opportunities lie and how outcomes can be resilient to change.
-
Storytelling
Storytelling sits at the heart of communication and meaningful change. As both a tool and an output, it helps us navigate complexity, craft visions, and drive behaviours. I use storytelling to transform the impersonal into digestible and thought-provoking narratives.
My Design Manifesto
01 Design for people and a better planet.
02 Harness your inner anthropologist.
03 Maintain balance.
04 Stay curious.
